Attachment & Relational Trauma
Patterns of trust, closeness, and conflict in relationships — early or recent — and the relational stress they create.
- You keep ending up in the same kind of relationship, even though you said you wouldn't.
- Trust is hard — either you give it too quickly or can't give it at all.
- Closeness feels dangerous, even when you want it.
- Conflict triggers a response that feels bigger than the moment.
- You can see the pattern. You can trace it back. Changing it is something else.
What this can look like day to day
Attachment wounds show up in the everyday: in how you respond to a partner's mood, in how you handle being left or being too close, in the beliefs you carry about whether you're worth staying for.
These patterns often trace back to early relationships — not always because something terrible happened, but because something needed didn't happen consistently. The nervous system learned a strategy for closeness, and it's still running it.
What we work on
An EMDR Intensive for attachment and relational trauma uses attachment-focused EMDR protocols. These target the experiences — early or recent — that shaped how you respond to closeness, conflict, and trust.
As a Certified EMDR Parent-Child Attachment Specialist, my work in this area draws on advanced training in attachment-focused EMDR. The intensive format allows sustained attention on the relational memories and beliefs that drive present-day patterns.
The work can reach early, pre-verbal experiences that are hard to name but deeply felt — the ones that taught your nervous system a strategy for closeness, and that it's still running.
What to expect afterward
Changes in how you respond to closeness, conflict, and trust can unfold over time. Follow-up sessions give those changes room to settle.
