Burnout & Return to Work

Work-related triggers, shutdown, and the path back into your role.

This is for you if...
  • Work-related triggers — a specific task, a setting, a person — bring up strong reactions.
  • You're on leave, or considering it, and the idea of going back feels impossible.
  • You're back at work but operating in survival mode, not thriving.
  • Shutdown, numbness, or irritability have become your baseline.
  • You need to return to your role, and you need to be well enough to stay.

What this can look like day to day

Work-related trauma and burnout can look like dread before a shift, panic during specific tasks, or a shutdown that makes it hard to engage. For first responders, healthcare workers, and people in high-stress roles, the triggers can be specific and predictable.

The line between burnout and trauma is not always clear. What looks like exhaustion can be a nervous system that has been running on high alert for too long.

What we work on

An EMDR Intensive for burnout and return-to-work targets the specific memories, triggers, and reactions that are making work feel impossible. The intensive format allows focused work on the experiences driving the response.

For first responders, healthcare workers, and people in high-stress roles, the triggers can be specific and predictable. The work addresses them directly rather than working around them.

An intensive can be timed before a return date, so the work is done with enough lead time for integration.

What to expect afterward

The goal is to reduce the charge of specific triggers so you can re-engage with your role from a steadier place. If something comes up after you return, we can address it.
